Are you running away or running toward your Creator?

Run as Fast as You Can!

The other day, as I was reading "The Gingerbread Man" to my kiddos, I had this glaring realization that so oftentimes, we are the gingerbread man. We run away from the One who created us, right into the tricks and schemes of Satan (the fox in the story).

We get so busy doing life the way we want to do it, that we find ourselves in a full-on sprint singing, "run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm an independent man!" We run after wealth. We run after the next promotion. We run after prestige. We run after people's adoration. We run to just escape reality.

This may work for a while...after all, the gingerbread man outpaced the little old woman, the little old man, the cow, the horse, the schoolchildren, the farmer...but in the end was devoured by the fox.

Friends, if you think you can endure in this life apart from God, you're fooling yourself:
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (1 Peter 5:8-9)

Don't run from God. Run towards Him with everything you have. He is waiting to embrace you and to set you on a path to life, abundant life! Embrace Him!
